Southport British Musical Fireworks Championship 2021 is back.

The competition is set to start tonight (Friday, September 24) and run until Sunday evening (September 26).

The British Musical Fireworks Championship is a pyro musical competition.

This means that the fireworks are synchronised to with the music and the entire show is choreographed to give the audience some of the most spectacular fireworks you will ever see.

During the competition, over two tonnes of explosive material are used with the total weight of fireworks used in excess of 10 tonnes.

Each show requires around five kilometres of wire to connect the electrical circuits and around 15 technicians working for over 12 hours to set up the display.

The three-night event will take place in Victoria Park, in Southport.
