Coronation Street is currently airing a major twist with the comeback of former character Fiona Middleton, played by actress Angela Griffin.

Fiona is the mother of current resident Emma Brooker, who is about to find out Fiona’s ex Steve McDonald is her real father.

Viewers are ready and waiting for Fiona to return, with Steve only just realising she was pregnant with his child when she fled Weatherfield in 1998.

Now, the ITV soap has shared an iconic throwback from 1993 on the Cobbles, when the former couple first met.

Coronation Street's Steve and Fiona look baby faced in their first ever scene together

The scene is their first together on the soap, and the first time they laid eyes on each other unaware of the future they would have.

In the clip, a super young Steve, played by actor Simon Gregson, is in the pub ordering a hotpot from Betty Williams.

Raquel Watts, played by Sarah Lancashire, is behind the bar too, giving fans some serious nostalgia.

Fiona, a hairdresser working for Denise Osbourne, then walks in and is joined by Steve at the bar.

The two begin flirting, as Fiona works out Steve has a girlfriend, his future wife Vicky.

As he offers to pay for her drink she tells him: “You twisted my arm,” with Steve appearing pretty keen on the newcomer.

Fans noticed how different Steve looked

Viewers raced to Twitter over the throwback, with one fan commenting: “They look really young it’s a possibility that Steve could be Emma’s real dad from years ago when he was going out with Fiona.”

Another said: “You have to come back full time Angela. We miss you.”

A third commented: “Omg look at young Steve,” as another said: “Awe how young and fresh faced! They were babies.”
