The new series of Strictly Come Dancing is odds-on to make history by featuring its first ever same-sex couple.

Leading bookmakers have the chances as short as 10/11 for the BBC show to follow the lead of Dancing On Ice.

Steps singer Ian 'H' Watkins took to the ice on the ITV skating show with pro dancer Matt Eve in what was seen as a big nod to diversity.

Bookies now believe it is likely to happen on the beeb - and have also released odds for a same-sex couple hitting the dancefloor revealing it currently stands at 10/11.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Dancing On Ice made history earlier this year with their first ever same-sex couple and it looks as though Strictly could well follow suit."

BBC bosses are rumoured to be lining up superstar RuPaul for the next series so it would be likely that he would get a male partner if he decided to dance in drag.

Love Island's Maura Higgins is 4/5 to say yes to an offer put to her.

The platform could be represented for the first time on the show, it has been claimed.

Holly is just one of the celebs said to have been approached for the Strictly Come Dancing 2020 line-up should it get the green light to return.

The Sun say execs have asked celebrity bookers to get her on the dancefloor when the new series eventually hits our screens.

They are desperate for her following the success of YouTubers Saffron Barker, 19, and Joe Suggs, 28, they are keen to appeal to the younger generation.
