Strictly’s Anton Du Beke takes brutal swipe at Kym Marsh on It Takes Two – did you spot it?

ANTON Du Beke made an awkward dig at Strictly contestant Kym Marsh during his latest appearance on spin-off show It Takes Two.

He was appearing on the show on Friday night alongside his fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas ahead of the live show later that night, having been moved as a result of the World Cup 2022.

Host Rylan Clark gathered the judges on the sofa to discuss each celebrity contestant and the progress that they had made so far in the show.

When talk turned to Kym Marsh, who returned after a week off due to illness, Anton was forced to brutally admit he had no idea about her rise to fame and had never heard of the band Hear'Say.

Kym joined the band in 2000 after winning a place in the singing group through the ITV talent show Popstars.

She released one album with the group before ditching them for an attempt at a solo career.

As her music career floundered, Kym quickly turned to acting, enjoying a 13 year stint as Michelle Connor in Coronation Street before quitting to explore other ventures as a TV personality.

In the studio, Anton said: "I love her style of dancing, I'm a bit of a fan and I love the gleeness."

A beaming Rylan then interjected to ask: "But did you love Hear'Say Anton?"

An unconvincing Anton then answered back: "Oh I tell you, they were marvellous."

Always aiming to be the joker, he then turned his head to speak directly to the camera as he whispered: "Who are Hear'Say?"

His fellow judges then attempted to get Anton to sing one of Kym's group's songs but to no avail.

The former pro dancer turned judge remarked: "I would love to sing you a song..."

Following his brutal digs, Rylan was forced to jump in to move the conversation away from Kym's career beginnings as he declared: "I'm being told to move on in my ear there."

Kym returned to the dancefloor last night but found herself at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 34.
