Shirley Ballas has admitted to undergoing a boob job to save her marriage.
The Strictly judge has opened up about her self-esteem struggles and her propensity to do things "for the wrong reasons" in a candid new interview.
“I have struggled with my self-esteem all my life," she said in the new issue of Prima magazine. "I’ve done all sorts to try to make myself feel more confident.
"I had my teeth straightened and fat drained out of my arms and legs. I thought doing my boobs would make my husband at the time like me more, but I was doing it for the wrong reasons.
"You have to love yourself first. That’s my message to every woman.”
Shirley, 61, was married to Corky Ballas, 60, for 22 years - the pair wed in 1985 and split in 2007.
The Strictly head judge, who shares son Mark, 35, with Corky, went under the knife in 2002 to increase her breast size from a 32B to a 34DD.
She has previously accused her ex of being controlling and verbally abusive.
She told You magazine last year: "I thought, 'this is a man who really loves me,' little did I know.
I gave up my life for that man… he’d say, “you’re too fat, what’s that mole on your chin? Your nose is crooked, you need a nose job. You breasts are too small..."
Last year, however, Shirley had her breast implants removed, after doctors warned her that it would be difficult to check for cancer behind the implants.
She also revealed that scar tissue due to her implants was causing her chronic fatigue.
She also discussed her breast implants in her memoir, Behind The Sequins, which was released last year and addressed a row she had with Craig Revel Horwood, after he made "painful" comments about her "fake boobs" while promoting his book in 2018.
He said: "What happened is that she came to the audition [to replace former judge Len Goodman] and literally had her thing open to her navel. I am not joking.
"Her boobs were like La BaZooKa things hanging out. It was not very, erm, Strictly. So they came in and sewed all that up. Then they had to push them down… and they’re fake."
However, the two resolved their differences and Shirley tells Prima that she is finally coming into her own.
“I’m learning to be myself more on the show," she said. "That’s something my son Mark said to me. I need to drop the walls because people can spot it when you’re being guarded.
" They see right through it, so I might as well be the real me”.
She has also credited her newfound confidence on keeping healthy and fit with yoga and biking and finding love with boyfriend, actor, Daniel Taylor, 46, whom she started dating in 2019.
The pair met during the 2018-2019 pantomime season when they were starring in a Christmas production of Jack and The Beanstalk at the Liverpool Empire.
“My relationship with Danny has changed my life," she added to Prima. "He’s very different to anyone I’ve been with before. First of all, he’s 6ft 1in, he’s the tallest man I’ve ever dated, and I love his jet black hair.
"He’s also very kind and very caring – he’s always there for me. I hope he’ll propose one day, but he’s never married and I think he’s a bit nervous about it, so we’ll see. Come on, Danny!”
