Discover young people dancing in front of trains and hanging from iron bridges

Railroad workers urge parents to warn children about the dangers of playing near train tracks after CCTV footage showed young people hanging from railroad bridges .

Another clip also shows a young girl dancing in front of an oncoming train.

The video was released as part of a new campaign following a series of incidents on the East Her Midlands rail line that caused concern.

A teenager slipped through a spiked metal fence to scurry across a bridge ledge just feet away from a 25,000 volt overhead power line.

A boy in his shirt of pink looks encouraging his friend.

His three more boys, including a pink boy, later join him on the bridge.

Another clip from July 15 shows three school-aged children crossing a crosswalk and then stopping in the middle of a railroad track.

Two girls jump off a path just inches from a live rail that dances as a train approaches and sprint off.

The British Transport Police (BTP), Network Railways and East Midlands Railways (EMR) are now urging parents to tell their children about safety issues.

BTP Nottingham Inspector Elise Turner said:

"This summer vacation, it is imperative that young people are aware of the dangers of being trackside.

"Keep young people safe and Education and following good examples from parents and guardians are essential to understanding what you are trying to do and discouraging risky activities."

continued: 'Unfortunately, a growing number of children and young people continue to trespass and turn the tracks into playgrounds, apparently not understanding the dangers of being on the railroad tracks.

"A common misconception is that you must touch a cable to be electrocuted, but you don't need physical contact with the cable, and 25,000 volts of electricity can be splattered from overhead lines. There is.”

BTP, Network Rail and EMR's 'You Vs Train' campaign will run during the summer holidays.

Alan Colclough, East Midlands Operations Risk Advisor for Network Rail, added:

``Railway is not a playground. Electricity is always on.”

Discuss railway safety with children, especially during summer vacation. "

Passengers and members of the public are asked to report any concerns or incidents by texting BTP on 61016 or calling 0800 405040."
