If you're looking to plan future days out swimming is a great option for families.

There are several swimming pools with slides all within an easy driving distance of Hull which are fun for all age ranges.

With family tickets being reasonably-priced, and most centres catering for all ages, it's a guaranteed fun day out for families with children from a mix of ages and swimming abilities, from babies and toddlers through to teens.

Here is our round-up of some of the best pools with slides close to Hull - some attractions and features are still subject to restrictions until May 17 so check with each venue for specific information and booking.

Alpamare - Scarborough

This water park, which opened in 2016, remains a firm favourite with families looking for thrills, slides, adrenaline rushes - and relaxation.

There are four slides for kids - the Cresta Run, Olympic Run, Black Run and Snowstorm. Height restrictions do apply.

For swimmers who love waves - the enormous pool has a wave machine that erupts every 30 minutes, with metre-high waves. There is also an outdoor garden pool heated to a blissful 35 degrees; and an infinity pool filled with healing iodine water and views across the bay.

Calypso Cove, Barnsley

Calypso Cove, located in the Metrodome Leisure Complex in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, is one of the biggest waterparks in the UK, with an array of pools, slides and water features to suit all ages.

Due to current government restrictions, the slides and water features will remain closed until further notice but the pools are open for swimmers.

The park is only allowing access to groups of 6 from the same household or support bubble. Access to the pool is permitted by booking only.

Woodford Leisure Centre - Hull

The popular Holderness Road complex had an £8m extension but the popular wave machine and slides remained.

The leisure centre, which is now back open after Covid restrictions eased, has a learner pool and a 25-metre, six lane swimming pool, with full disability access.

There is a a pirate water slide and the facilities include a cafe to feed little ones who are always starving hungry after a swim session.

It is open 7.30am to 9.30pm on weekdays and 8.30am to 4.30pm at the weekend.

East Riding Leisure Centre - Goole

The Goole East Riding Leisure Centre boasts a 25 metre family leisure pool, including a built-in toddler pool, water flume and jacuzzi to enjoy.

They have a village-style changing area that includes disabled, family, group and individual changing cubicles. Their shower facilities are communal and lockers are operated by a £1 coin which is returned after use.

An adult ticket costs £4.30, a child £2.90 and under two-year-olds go free. A family swim is priced at £12.50.

It is open from 7am to 10pm on weekdays and 8am to 8pm at the weekend.

The Dome is less than an hour's drive away and has a whopping seven pools as well as a lagoon, slides, and even an ice rink.

There is something for any age, and children can enjoy the thrills and spills of the five slides at the centre, although height restrictions apply and children must be 1.2 meters to use the slides and flumes.

There are many fun rides - including The Falls which is a family ride, perfect for young thrill seekers to enjoy; and for slightly more of an adrenaline rush, kids can try the Serpent's twists and turns, culminating with a splashy end.

The Wild Water Rapids takes riders throughout fast and turbulent wild water.

The Blackhole is a pitch black slide that is only for the very brave.

While the pool is open for swimming sessions, rides are closed until May 17, keep an eye on their social media for updates.

Cleethorpes Leisure Centre - Cleethorpes

If wave machines and an aqua slide in an enormous heated pool are what you're looking for - then head to Cleethorpes Leisure Centre.

This leisure centre caters for everything from serious swimmers, to kids wanting to have fun, and babies and toddlers who need their own quiet areas.

Its changing village houses a sauna and steam room, as well as fantastic fully accessible changing facilities.

Meridian Leisure Centre has a 25m competition eight lane pool with moveable floor, as well as a leisure pool with pirate ship and flume.

The leisure centre in Louth also boasts a fitness suite, sauna and steam as well as a four court sports hall and dance and cycle studio.

It is open weekdays from 6am to 10pm and on weekends, 6.30am to 7pm.
