Toxteth 'murder': Man shot dead in street 'suspect flees on electric bike'

A murder investigation has been launched in Liverpool after a man was shot dead in the street.

Merseyside Police were seriously injured after receiving a call about a shooting in the Toxteth neighborhood around 11:40 on Tuesday night. He said he found a man. In his early 20s, he received a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Police said in a statement that they believed the attacker fled the scene on an electric bicycle.

Officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene until an ambulance arrived and the man was taken to hospital. He was pronounced dead some time later.

Murder Investigation Crime scene investigators are conducting forensic examinations while the early stages of the Officers are also conducting house-to-house searches and reviewing CCTV footage to identify criminals.

Chief Inspector Rooney said:

"We understand that this is shocking to the community, but we would like to reassure you that we are stepping up patrols in the area and doing a lot of research.

"If anyone has information that would be helpful to our investigation, or saw or heard anything suspicious before or after the incident, please come forward and tell us what you know.

"I would also like to ask if anyone has CCTV or doorbell ringing footage that would be helpful in contacting them in an emergency."
