Ms Cheney's downfall came after she repeatedly criticized Mr Trump and her leading role in her January 6 committee of the House of Representatives. She was also one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for his role in the riot.
Initially, she served as chairman of the House Republican meeting. survived the challenge to her position. But after her repeated criticism of Republicans and Mr. Trump, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy ultimately supported her removal from office.
Mr. McCarthy said: Congressman Ellis Stefanik, who replaced Cheney as chairman of the House Republican meeting, ultimately endorsed Ms. Hagemann. appeared on video at a rally.

In the final week of the election, Cheney doubled down on his criticism of the former president. Her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, who held the same seat for years, said, "No one has posed a greater threat to our country than Donald Trump."

In his final ad before the election, Mr. Cheney continued his criticism and seemed to be looking beyond the election.
