Two further suspects have been arrested two weeks after a gun was allegedly fired in Newcastle.
A 31-year-old man has already appeared in court charged with a string of offences in relation to the alleged shooting on Ridsdale Avenue in West Denton.
Witnesses reported seeing a man fire a gun at a car following an argument with the female driver at about 3pm on January 4.
The bullet missed the vehicle and damaged the window of a nearby home before those involved then fled. Nobody was injured.
A total of six people had been arrested as part of the police investigation, including Nathan Mackay who has been charged and appeared in court.
Now detectives have revealed that a further two men have been arrested following inquiries in the North East and West Yorkshire.
Senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Dave Cole said: "These two new arrests mean we have now taken a total of eight people into police custody as part of the investigation.
"One of those people has already been charged and is awaiting a Crown Court appearance for a number of very serious charges relating to firearms.
"Our response to this incident shows how seriously we take firearms offences here in Northumbria and we will leave no stone unturned in our investigation.
"We have carried out inquiries across the country and two people were arrested in West Yorkshire as part of the inquiries in the days and weeks after the shooting.
"Anyone who is found to be involved in the illegal use of a firearm will face arrest so if you have information that may assist police then we would urge you to get in touch."
A 24-year-old man from Blyth and a 44-year-old man from the Huddersfield area have both been arrested as part of the investigation. They have both since been released under investigation.
Police activity was focused in the west of the city last week with some areas cordoned off.
One of the areas officers searched as part of the shooting investigation was Hospital Lane, a road which runs between Lemington and Newburn, and the open fields next to it.
Nathan Mackay, 31, of Ravenshill Road, West Denton, was charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He was also charged with possessing a firearm when prohibited, common assault, theft and two counts of criminal damage.
Mackay appeared before South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 10, and was remanded in custody to appear before Newcastle Crown Court.
Three men, aged 60, 59 and 30, and two woman, aged 38 and 39, arrested earlier this month remain under investigation. A 36-year-old man arrested was released with no further action.
