The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog which will still be in place well into Friday. The areas affected stretch from the south west and south coast of England up across the Midlands towards the north east of the country.

The weather is expected to cause trouble for people on the roads and rail and is likely to wreak havoc with the morning commute.

The Met Office said in their warning: "Areas of fog will bring some difficult travel conditions on Friday morning.

"Expect slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible.

"There is a chance of delays or cancellations to flights."
