What channel is Netherlands vs USA? Kick-off time, TV and live stream details

Netherlands will aim to make it into the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup by defeating the United States in their last 16 tie on Saturday.

The Oranje progressed to the knockout stages as Group A winners following victories over Senegal and Qatar, while a draw with Ecuador was sandwiched in between as they totalled seven points from three matches to claim top spot.

But the USA, who have reached the last 16 for the seventh time in their history, impressed during the group stage as they went unbeaten across three games. After consecutive draws with Wales and England, they leapfrogged Iran with a 1-0 victory in their final fixture to progress to the next round.

When is Netherlands vs USA?

Netherlands vs USA will kick-off at 3pm (GMT) on Saturday, December 3 at the Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar.

This will be the sixth meeting between the two sides and their first in World Cup competition, following five previous international friendlies, with the latest clash coming back in June 2015 in Amsterdam.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored either side of a Gyasi Zardes equaliser, before Memphis Depay made it 3-1 after 53 minutes, to give the hosts a comfortable lead. However, John Brooks equalised once more in the 70th minute, before goals from Danny Williams and Bobby Wood in the 88th and 90th minutes completed a superb turnaround to hand the USA a 4-3 win.

Team news

Netherlands will certainly fancy their chances of beating the USA and booking their place in the quarter-finals, with Louis van Gaal expected to take no chances as his side look to avoid a shock defeat. As a result, changes can be expected from their 2-0 victory over Qatar.

Jurrien Timber should keep his place in defence ahead of Matthijs de Ligt, although there will be a battle between Steven Berghuis, Teun Koopmeiners and Martin de Roon to partner Frenkie de Jong in central midfield after all three started one group game each. Memphis Depay is likely to keep his place ahead of Steven Bergwijn alongside Cody Gakpo in attack.

As for the United States, making it into the last 16 is an achievement in itself but after going unbeaten throughout the group stage - including a draw with England - they will fancy their chances of causing an upset against the Netherlands.

Having reverted back to a 4-3-3 to face Iran, Josh Sargeant came back into the side to replace Haji Wright in attack. Gregg Berhalter is likely to name the same lineup once more, although Walker Zimmerman should regain his place at centre back from Cameron Carter-Vickers in the only expected change.
