Woman kills and skins husky dog thinking it's a wolf - claims she'd do it again

A woman who killed and skinned a husky thinking it was a wolf has claimed she do it again after she was slammed by social media users.

Amber Barnes, 36, from Montana in the US, mistook the wild Siberian husky in the woods for a wolf after shooting the animal dead and skinning it - as she proudly boasted her achievement on Facebook.

Known as Amber Rose on social media, the woman had been exploring in the Flathead National Forest in Doris Creek - which is 60 miles south of Glacier National Par.

She said she was trying to find a black bear when she stumbled across the animal she later killed.

Amber took to Facebook share her joy of her scalp: "I got the opportunity to take another predator wolf pup 2022 was a great feeling to text my man and say I just smoked a wolf pup #firstworld #onelesspredatorMT."

Underneath her caption were horrific pictures of the skinned creature sat next to her in her truck.

However, her post soon turned sour when social media users informed her she had actually shot dead a husky - not a wolf.

One user wrote: "Some people are just too sick, and dumb to either hunt, own a gun.

"She killed and skinned a husky then bragged it was a wolf, then she and her friends double down and start threatening any one that points out her horrid mistake."

Another added: "This is so wrong. You should always know what your shooting and then trying to get the tag after you shoot it. This women needs jail time."

Authorities are now set to investigate whether she had a valid hunting licence.

Amber, however, has hit back on Facebook and claimed she would do it all again in order to protect herself against the wild animal.

She wrote: "During this time, safety was my top priority this animal was growling howling and coming at me like it was going to eat me.

"Yes I made a mistake... either way yes I would still have shot it because it was aggressive and coming directly for me!'"

Her husband leapt to her defence after she received criticism from animal lovers who questioned how she could make the mistake.

Frank Tallent angrily wrote on Facebook: "It was a deer chasing ferral [sic] a** dog on the wrong place at the wrong time.

"'So if you wanna be a bunch of cry baby a** f***ing sheep keep going cause we really don't give two f**ks about what's going on or what's being said.

"You cry baby mother f***ers and for any other hunters who wanna talk s**t saying it looks bad, he said, 'we'll [sic] f*****g s**t it does you stupid mother f***ers but mistakes happen.'

"Mistakes happen big f***ing deal.'

"Ya my girl friend was out hunting and shot a f***ing dog that was dumped out in the woods.

"No charges have been filed or will be filed because no laws were broke."

Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Park's communication and education division administrator Greg Lemon said they were unsure whether they will press charges against Amber.

He said: "We are looking into that aspect of it but it’s not really clear what the outcome of that investigation will be.

"It’s always important to be certain of the animal you’re going to harvest."

Meanwhile, police are searching for the individual who abandoned the group of ten dogs - with many of them suffering from deadly diseases.

Police confirmed the dogs were being treated by vets but because of their condition they won't be put up for adoption.
