Woman rushed to hospital after two-car smash on A76 as man is arrested

A woman has been rushed to hospital following a two-car smash in Ayrshire.

A Renault Clio and a Ford Fiesta were involved in the crash on the A76 between Crosshands and Crossroads shortly after 10am.

The 74-year-old driver of the Clio was rushed to hospital, although the extent of her injuries haven't been disclosed.

Police have confirmed that a 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.10 am on Friday, December 9, police were called to a two-vehicle road crash, involving a Renault Clio and a Ford Fiesta, on the A76 near Bargower, East Ayrshire

"A 74-year-old woman, the driver of the Renault Clio, has been taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock. No details on any injury at this time.

“No one else was injured as a result of the crash.

"A 34-year-old man has been arrested and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

"The road was fully opened around 11.50am."
