Almost half of Britons want Woolworths back, new survey shows

If there's one thing we can all agree on absolutely, it's that there was nothing like a trip to Woolworths when we were young. From our much-loved pick-and-mixes to the variety of toys our mom asked for, it's a place that will forever remain in our hearts. It seems that the love of is still going on. More than half of Britons across the country want the iconic store back on the High Street.

New Yougov poll finds 49% of Britons surveyed want the now-defunct retailerto still exist. I understand. The nostalgic high street chain was a place in the 80's and 90's before it sadly fell victim to the financial crisis that hit in the 2000s.

A new study found Woolleys' return to be the most requested return across generations, Wales Onlinereports. 60% of the 50-64 age group are most likely to want to see it again. He was four to 10 years old when the chain closed in 2009, and a third of 18- to 24-year-olds wanted it open.

And Woolleys wasn't the only nostalgic chain in desperate need of a revival. Debenhams came in second for her, with 13% of her British respondents saying they miss her chain of department stores.

Rival chain British Home Stores (BHS), which closed in 2016, was also a strong candidate for a revival, with 10% wanting it to come back. Clothing retailer C&A ranks her fourth at 7%, 21 years after it exited the UK market in 2001.

Other well-known brands lost out, but rose only a few percentage points. These include Toys R Us, Blockbuster, Comet, Little Woods and Maplin.

One in four of her Britons (23%) said she did not have a High Street her chain that she wanted to revive. Also, 1% wanted House of Fraser back, but still in the UK he runs 33 branches and another 5 of hers have been converted to Frasers format.

YouGov conducted a survey of her 1,717 adults in the UK. The investigation he took place on August 8th and 9th.
