World Cup 2022 LIVE: Ronaldo vs Cavani as Portugal take on Uruguay after Brazil win

Day nine of the World Cup is here - and the action continues to come thick and fast in Qatar.

It's been an action-packed day. Cameroon and Serbia set the tone for the days proceedings by playing out an enthralling 3-3 draw in Group G.

Both sides were pointless heading into the match and knew a defeat would be catastrophic for their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages. After falling behind, Serbia fought back to surge into a 3-1 lead before second-half substitute Vincent Aboubakar inspired a stunning second-half fightback for Rigobert Song's side.

We were also treated to another brilliant match between South Korea and Ghana. The African side went into the break 2-0 up following goals from Mohammed Salisu and Mohammed Kudus before South Korea fought back. Cho Gue-sung netted two headers in quick succession to bring the game alive before Kudus tucked in at the back post to give Ghana a much-needed 3-2 win.

Brazil's 1-0 win over Switzerland was less exciting, with Neymar out of action due to injury. But Tite's side still qualified for the knockout stages thanks to Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, who rifled in late on.

The final game will now see Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal take on Uruguay in Group H.

Veterans in action

So 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line for Portugal, who also have 39-year-old Pepe in central defence.

Uruguay swap out Luis Suarez for Edinson Cavani, who, at 35 years old, is a spring chicken.

Team news: Portugal vs Uruguay (7pm)

Portugal: Costa; Cancelo, Dias, Pepe, Guerreiro; Carvalho, Neves, Bernardo Silva; Felix, Fernandes, Ronaldo.

Uruguay: Rochet; Coates, Godin, Giminez; Varela, Valverde, Bentancur, Vecino, Olivera; Cavani, Nunez.

South Korea's fury

Anthony Taylor was not a popular man in the aftermath of Ghana 3-2 South Korea.

Casemiro comes up trumps

For all the attacking talent on the pitch, it was defensive midfielder Casemiro who provided the winner.

Full-time: Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

It wasn't pretty, but Brazil won't care.

They're through to the knockout stages thanks to Casemiro's brilliant snapshot.

Switzerland defended manfully for the vast majority of the game, but never threatened the Brazil goal. They remain second in Group G and will still be hopeful of qualifying, with a final game against Serbia to come.

Brazil close to qualification

We're into six minutes of added time.

Brazil will move onto six points if they hold onto this 1-0 win - enough to be assured of qualification for the knockout stages.

GOAL! Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

Casemiro breaks the deadlock!

The Manchester United midfielder thumps a wonderful half-volley into the corner, via a little deflection of Manuel Akanji to make it 1-0.

Stats tell the story

I just checked the stats and had to refresh them to check they were correct.

Switzerland still haven't had a shot on target. Brazil are still on two - both of which came in the first half. We're 76 minutes into this match.

Goal disallowed

Oh, wait. It's been disallowed for an offside earlier on in the build-up.

As you were.

GOAL! Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

Vinicius Jr brings this game to life!

The Real Madrid forward charges forward from the left wing, skips past one defender and then coolly slots into the bottom corner.

Close!

Vinicius Jr puts a tantilising cross in for Richarlison, but he can't quite get on the end of it.

It looks as though the game might finally be opening up.

Good start from the Swiss

Switzerland have started the second half as the stronger side.

Still no clear-cut chances, but it's encouraging stuff for the European side.

Kick off

ITV commentator Sam Matterface as provided us with a glimmer of hope in terms of excitement.

Of the goals scored at the World Cup so far, 27 have come in the first half and 51 in the second.

Let's see. Rodrygo is on for Lucas Paqueta.

Penny for this man's thoughts

Brazil will surely try and step things up a gear in the second half.

Tite can't be too pleased with what he's seen so far.

Half-time: Brazil 0-0 Switzerland

Well, that was an immediately forgettable half of football in which very little happened.

Switzerland have attempted just one shot. Brazil have been a bit more attacking, but have fashioned very little in Neymar's absence.

Fingers crossed for a better second period.

Lights out

Bizarre moment as the stadium's lights dim momentarily as Raphinha prepares to take a Brazil corner.

They're back on quickly and we're nearly at half-time. The score remains 0-0.

Subdued match

A bit disappointing so far.

After all the excitement of the opening two matches, Brazil vs Switzerland is falling flat in Qatar.

First chance!

Vinicius Jr ghosts in around the back post, but he can't get a decent contact on his volley and it's easily pushed behind for a corner.

Brazil yet to get going

Switzerland will be delighted with the opening 23 minutes, with Brazil yet to get going at all.

Fred has come in for the injured Neymar, to give Brazil a more balanced look and the midfield are yet to create much for Richarlison, who starred with two goals in their opening game.

Steady start by the Swiss

We're 10 minutes in and Switzerland have kept Brazil at arms length so far.

Brazil vs Switzerland

Here we go!

Brazil vs Switzerland is about to start at Stadium 974.

The Switzerland team coach had a minor crash before the game, but the team have made it to the ground.

Switzerland team bus crashes

The Switzerland team bus has crashed into the back of a police car on the way to their World Cup clash with Brazil.

The vehicle wasn't travelling at speed and no one appears to have been hurt in the incident.

There will be more to follow on this breaking story.

South Korea 2-3 Ghana

Ghana have done it!

They've stunned South Korea to leave Son Heung-min's side on the verge of elimination.

Monday's next game is between Brazil and Switzerland, with kick-off at 4pm (UK time).

Ghana back in front!

Ghana are back in front thanks to an excellent finish from Mohammed Kudus.

Surely there will be another goal in this game!
