Young cricketer discovers hairy surprise before cricket match

A young cricketer received a furry surprise when he opened his kit bag before a match.

His 15-year-old Tyler Ivey, from Chillsworthy on the Cornwall-Devon border, announced on 13 August that he was part of his second team at the Holsworthy Cricket Club. He traveled an hour and a half for the game. A member of the Ivey clan arriving for the match.

His pet hamster Gerbus, who has been with him for 3 to 4 months, has snuck into his bag because he doesn't want to be separated from him.

"I had to get up pretty early on the morning of the cricket match to clean the cage before I went," he told his PA news agency.

"I had left the bag on the bed, so while I was cleaning the hamster's cage, I put the hamster on the bed at the same time. At that point, he managed to sneak into my kit bag. , was able to travel with me for an hour and a half."

He added that he was not the first to see Garbus, but fellow players were "very impressed" that what they first thought was a rat "just walking around".

Shortly after Gerbus was discovered, he received star treatment after a arduous journey.

"Honestly, he was so spoiled and attention-grabbing."

A tweet about the moment received over 7,000 likes. and Tyler calls it "pretty crazy".

"I didn't even realize how much attention this tweet got until Sunday or so. At the time, I was playing Fifa with my buddies and my friend Fletcher tweeted Twitter. I looked up and at that point it had 5,000 likes," he said.

"It was pretty crazy."
