Joy For Ghana As Paul Amoah Wins Bronze Medal For Ghana In The Mens 200m Final

Ghana has witnessed a mixed day in the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The day saw 2 Ghanaian boxers progress to the finals of their competitions. However, there was so much disappointment in the athletics. Due a technical negligence Ghana missed out on the finals of the 4x100m relay. The quartet thought they had qualified only to be told they had been disqualified.

The 200m finals saw Ghanaian Joseph Amoah coming up against competition from Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Cameroun, Wales among. Amoah started the race well and after a dramatic race came third. It was a well-deserved race for the third. It was Amoah’s absence that caused Ghana missing out on the 4×100 meters final and this will be a compensation for the team.

Amoah wanted to conserve his strength and so missed on the relay but came up strongly in the finals. He could have won the race but his competitors were not ready to give it away. In the end Richards from Trinidad came first with England’s Hughes coming second. Congratulations To Joseph Paul Amoah
