My People Will Be Disenfranchised; I Won’t Allow The EC To Go Ahead With This Plan

The member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency, Honorable Sam Nartey George has dropped some revelations about the Electoral commission and how it has planned against members of the NDC.

Speaking on Newsfile show this morning, Sam George revealed that the EC’s new Constitutional Instrument(CI) will disfranchise a lot of people in his constituency. According to Sam George, he has a strong suspicion that people who will register as new voters may be placed in a different polling station which may be far away from their homes. He believes that it is the new plan by the EC to disfranchise people, especially the strongholds of the NDC.

“Here is the suspicion. This is to aide the NPP because when you pick Ningo-Prampram register and you realise that in a particular polling station, Sam George did well in 2020. You want to drop his votes in 2024 so individuals in this particular polling station which should be a stronghold of Sam George comes to register, instead of registering them in their particular polling station, you put them in another polling station. This will disenfranchise a lot of persons” he said.

Sam George served a strong notice to the EC and urged them to the needful because there is no fault or error with the current electoral system.

This comes after the EC argued that the use of the Ghana Card as the sole source of identification for the continuous voters’ registration exercise is the surest way to rid the electoral register of minors and foreigners.
