Nigerians Give Me Money to Create Jokes That Resonate with Them– Lekzy DeComic Discloses |

Emmanuel Nkansah Ansong, a Ghanaian stand-up comedian, popularly known as Lekzy DeComic, has shed light on an interesting experience he had in Nigeria.

In a recent interview on Okay FM‘s mid-morning show, Best Entertainment Show, with Halifax Ansah-Addo he discussed the active support he receives from Nigerians, who encourage him to perform jokes that resonate with them.

He recounted a specific incident in which a Nigerian approached him at one of his stand-up comedy shows and generously offered money to hear jokes that aligned with their Nigerian experiences.

“How many Ghanaians will be willing to do the same? How often do we see Ghanaians approaching a DJ and handing over 200 cedis to play a specific song? he questioned.

Lekzy DeComic used this incident to highlight the disparity in support and promotion between the Nigerian and Ghanaian creative industries.

He argued that Nigerians show remarkable commitment to promoting their creative talents, which has boosted their creative industry. Sadly, the opposite is true for Ghanaian music and arts, as their popularity has declined.
