The Unending War Between Okorocha And Uzodinma

Okorocha, Uzodinma

The feud between the present Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, and his predecessor, Rochas Anayo Okorocha is currently on everyone’s lips.

Despite that the duo are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), they keep butting heads.

On Saturday, February 20, it was reported that the state government had sealed off a property belonging to Mrs. Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, the wife of the former state governor, Okorocha.

The directive, it was gathered, was issued by Governor Uzodinma and executed by the state commissioner for lands survey and physical planning, Barrister Enyinna Onuegbu.

This came barely 24 hours after the Governor sacked about 108 workers of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), who were reportedly employed by the former governor of the state, Okorocha.

The Imo state police command also confirmed that the former governor and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district was arrested during an altercation over the step taken.

It was earlier reported that Okorocha and some of his political associates violently broke into the government-sealed Royal palm spring estate along Akachi road in Owerri.

Some students took to the streets to protest against the arrest of the former governor.

Senator Okorocha also broke his silence and he spoke poorly about his successor.

He addressed his arrest through his aide, claiming that his successor sent over 1,000 armed thugs to attack him. He said that the governor is a product of the court and accused him of sanctioning state-sponsored violence in the state.

However, Governor Uzodinma said that he is not aware of an assassination attempt on Okorocha while speaking to state house correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday, February 23.

The Governor mentioned that one thing he is certain of is that he has no personal issues with his predecessor. He stated that he was only following the resolution of a panel set up by the Emeka Ihedioha-led government which he took over from.
