GARDAI are warning that pickpockets are active in Limerick city at the moment.

The bus was busy and many people got off at the same time. A moment later, this man reached for his wallet but it was gone.

He believes that the only chance anybody had to get close enough to him to pick his pocket was when he was getting off the bus.

Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street garda station sad: "Gardai know that criminals use queues in shops, in lifts or at bus stops to stand close to people and attempt to pick pockets or handbags.

"I want to raise awareness of this and advise women to wear a cross body bag inside their coats and men, carry your wallet in the front pocket of your trousers or in the inside pocket of your jacket".
