Autopsy scheduled for murdered 9-y-o Hanover girl

By Clinton McGregor

Radio Jamaica News has been informed that an autopsy is scheduled for Friday on the body of nine-year-old Nikita Noel, the Esher Primary student who was found murdered in Kew district, Hanover, last week.

It is suspected that the child was raped and strangled while returning home from school last Wednesday.

A suspect was arrested shortly after Nikita's body was found in bushes.

He is now being questioned by CIB detectives.

Investigators have collected DNA evidence which they hope will assist in the investigations.

Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of the Area One Headquarters, told Radio Jamaica News on the weekend that investigators are close to laying charges in the case.

The suspect is said to be a friend of the child's mother.
