A British national who was arrested on Saturday in connection with a multi-million dollar drug bust at Sangster International Airport in St. James, has been charged.
Alan Reid, a 64-year-old farmer, of a Parchmore Road, Thornton Heath, England address and Scarborough district, St. Ann, was charged Wednesday following an investigation by the Narcotics Police.
Mr. Reid was arrested as he tried to board a flight to Manchester, England.
The police say they seized a quantity of ganja and cocaine valuing approximately US$420,000 or J$64 million concealed in his luggage.
He has been charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in, attempting to export and conspiracy to export cocaine.
He was also charged with possession of ganja and attempting to export ganja.
Mr. Reid is scheduled to appear in the St. James Parish court on October 12.
