One death has been confirmed in Orlando, Florida as a result of Hurricane Ian which has caused widespread destruction in the US state.
Officials in Volusia County, northeast of Orlando, said a 74-year-old man died after he went out during the storm to try to drain his pool.
Some 2.7 million people are without power.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis warned Hurricane Ian will leave historic devastation, as it batters the state with catastrophic wind and rain.
Ian, which has left people trapped in their homes, is expected to set flood records and may be one of the worst storms to ever strike the state.
President Joe Biden has declared the storm a major disaster - triggering access to federal funds and disaster relief.
The National Hurricane Centre has issued a hurricane warning for the entire coast of South Carolina, as the storm is expected to make landfall for a second time on Friday.
