Incarcerated dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel has been transferred from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre to the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre.
This follows a news report out of the US this week that Kartel became engaged to a Turkish woman while in prison.
Fox 5 in New York said the couple confirmed they got engaged this summer during an authorised prison visit.
In an interview with Radio Jamaica News on Thursday night, Kartel's lawyer, Isat Buchanan, confirmed that his client had been transferred.
Mr. Buchanan expressed concern that his client was moved from Horizon where he had been receiving private medical care.
Given that the Horizon prison is the "only institution that is medically equipped" to facilitate the needs of the incarcerated artiste, his attorney called the move a "serious problem".
He said Kartel was transferred in the rain and highlighted that this could affect his health.
Mr. Buchanan is also worried about Kartel's welfare at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre.
The attorney claimed the institution is "one of the dirtiest facilities", which could be a "very dangerous thing" considering Kartel's health.
Vybz Kartel, whose given name is Adijah Palmer, is serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams.
