AMMAN — Following Royal directives, Royal Court chief Yousef Issawi on Saturday inaugurated several Royal initiative projects in Madaba, Prince Hassan, Baqaa, Azmi Mufti and Irbid camps.
His Majesty King Abdullah has directed to implement these projects during his meetings with dignitaries and representatives of camps and his field visits to these areas, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
His Majesty’s top priority is to realise sustainable social and economic development, the impact of which can reflect positively on citizens across the Kingdom, where Royal initiatives seek to meet the needs of local communities in a bid to achieve a qualitative leap in the lives of targeted segments in cities, rural areas, Badia and camps, Petra said.
In Madaba, Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, inaugurated a gymnasium affiliated with Al Wihdah sports club at Madaba Camp, where the 370-square-metre facility was provided with all necessary sports equipment of the highest standard.
At the Prince Hassan Camp in Amman, the Royal Court chief opened a three-storey investment building with a total area of 2,085 square metres. The building includes eight stores.
He also inaugurated an investment building at the Irbid camp over an area of 850 square metres, including 18 commercial shops.
These buildings contribute sources of income for service committees at the camps to implement infrastructure works and improve the quality of services provided to camp residents.
At Baqaa Camp, Issawi inaugurated a kindergarten that includes four classrooms, a play room, and a kitchen. All equipment meet technical and quality standards to ensure a safe environment for children.
The Royal Court chief also checked the renovation project of a valley next to Azmi Mufti Camp after finishing the first phase of the project. It includes constructing an open drain channel for rainwater with an approximate length of 380 metres, building walls and amending the level of an asphalt park next to the valley.
In press remarks, Issawi said that development initiatives launched by King Abdullah across the Kingdom align with government procedures.
Director General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs Rafiq Khirfan, who accompanied Issawi, stressed that Royal initiative projects that are carried out in camps reflect His Majesty’s keenness to provide decent living conditions for camp residents.
