The fourth edition of the Nkurenkuru Expo officially kicked off at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West region on Monday.

The expo will run until 2 July.

A total of 127 exhibitors have registered to showcase their products and services, such as government ministries and agencies, institutions of higher learning, and small and medium entreprises.

Mayor Jafet Markus Muti said Nkurenkuru is a fast growing town with potential in different sectors, like tourism, agriculture, and housing.

“It also has a lot of potential in different sectors such as the education sector, hospitality, and with infrastructure like shopping malls and flats, as well as the manufacturing sector, in which potential investors can explore and invest,” said Muti.

The mayor said the town has a population of approximately 15 000 people, the majority of who are working adults with the ability to support businesses.

“Our abundant water and fertile soil makes us a preferred destination of horticulture and aquaculture investments,” said Muti.

An entrepreneur who travelled all the way from Rundu, Peter Sipendo, said business at the expo is moving fast and people are supporting him.

Sipendo, who sells items like wallets, watches and perfumes, said the expo is better compared to other expos because lot of people are frequenting his stall.

The official opening was attended by various mayors from different towns, like Rehoboth mayor Amanda Groenewaldt.
