Police apologise to carwash owner

The Namibian Police has apologised to Bix Carwash owner Benjamin Kambala after allegedly causing the business reputational damage by reporting that a man was murdered at the premises.

This comes after national police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in the police’s weekend crime report said Brave Kavari (49) was stabbed to death at the carwash at Katutura.

Kambala said the report was a deviation from the truth and demanded that the police issue an apology with the right information.

According to the apology, which was released on Tuesday, the incident took place in Saima A Street, Katutura, between Bix Car Wash and Single Quarters.

Shikwambi said preliminary information revealed that Kavari and the suspect, both car guards, had an argument.

“An argument over who to guard a certain car allegedly erupted, which resulted in the suspect stabbing the deceased with a knife.

“The suspect has since been arrested, has appeared in court, and is remanded in custody till his next appearance,” Shikwambi said.
