Robbah-TJ teams up with Fishman and Drawer Locosound on new single

SINGER and composer Robert Nghifikwa, aka Robbah-TJ, has joined forces with former kwaito singer Fishman and Afro-pop star Drawer Locosound to create a brand new tune titled ‘Kokamba’.

The song, produced by Mr. Andrew, was officially released on 18 August.

On the song, the musician discusses the value of gatherings and encourages listeners to be more involved socially.

The artist says the brand new single is a preview of what fans can anticipate from his eagerly awaited album, to be titled ‘40 Barrel’.

Robbah-TJ says he will feature different artists to incorporate different ideas and voices for the upcoming album, with Fishman and Drawer being among his favourite choice of artists to collaborate with.

“There is a music video in production, and a CD launch is scheduled for the near future across the nation.

“For this initiative, I am preparing a really large event, but the rest will be forthcoming shortly, because we are about to enter that chapter,” says Robbah-TJ.

The artist says he was exposed to famous musicians as a young child, including Nashiningwe of Four Motions, Buzzy B and Ingo One Time of One Time Entertainment, and Neckox of Neckox Empire.

He discovered his singing ability and embarked on his journey into the music industry in 2013, while still at school.

He spent roughly six months performing with a group called Thunder Jivers in 2014, and he joined another performance ensemble, C-wagger Vatch, in the latter half of 2014, before embarking on a solo career in 2016.

He notes the Eenhana Expo in 2014 as one of his performance highlights.

He says he now has a sense of purpose and a passion for music and performance as a result of that experience.

After going solo in 2016, Robbah-TJ began working with his friend, Robbie V, on a collaboration album, and ‘Efimbo Letu’ was released in late 2016.

In order to complete his solo project and release his breakout album, Robbah-TJ returned to the studio in 2017. He received airplay on several local radio stations in 2018 when ‘Shimwati’ was launched, as well as a number of unique reviews for the album and invitations to play at concerts and other events across the nation.

Robbah-TJ returned to the studio in 2019 to work on his third release after signing with Numba Busy Entertainment, owned by Salmon Uulenga, also known as Fishman.

He released a track named ‘O Family’ in 2019, sponsored by Namib Mills, and in January 2020, he released another single called ‘January’ as a follow-up. The song was created with the intention of warning Namibians about the risks of not having enough money saved up for the notoriously challenging month of January and teaching them how to maintain discipline.

He released his much-awaited and critically lauded third album ‘First Aid’ at the end of 2021.

With singles like ‘Balance’, featuring Dama Monique, ‘First Aid’, featuring Fishman, and ‘Pen on Paper’ receiving airplay on various radio stations, the album has been one of his best works to date. However, the singer thinks his new upcoming album will demonstrate the best music possible, more than any other record to date.
