Yesterday Israeli jets hit specific targets near Tehran in a well-planned operation (which came as pay-back for Irans missile attack from early october)
David Albright and Decker Eveleth‚ two well-known researchers looked at satellite pictures and found interesting details: the strikes hit a building called Taleghan 2 — an old part of Irans shut-down nuclear program from 20 years ago.
The attack focused on several key spots:
* Three buildings with missile-fuel mixing equipment
* A large warehouse in Parchin area
* Two more mixing facilities in Khojir
* Border radar systems in different spots
The strikes appear to be highly accurate
The hits damaged special mixer machines that make solid fuel for missiles; these machines are hard-to-get items that cost lots of money. Albright‚ who wrote a book using files that Israeli spies got about 6 years ago says the building might still be useful for nuclear work — even if Iran moved stuff out before the attack
Three iranian officials said before that both places were getting bigger to make more missiles (but Tehran doesnt admit sending any weapons to Russia or other places). The strikes hit buildings that had dirt walls around them: this is typical for places where they mix missile fuel because it stops chain-reactions if something blows up
The attacks might make it harder for Iran to:
