Even among stars, David Garland shines bright at MTN Y’ello Star

With a beautiful voice, soulful sound and bedazzling confidence, David Garland is fast becoming a household name in the MTN Y’ello Star Competition. From a maybe to being in the top two and having the highest scores in both performance nights, that’s a big deal.

His story teaches us the power of resilience, proving naysayers wrong, or more importantly, doing it afraid, and doing it especially when all the risks are stacked up high against you.

You see from his audition, many didn’t expect him to get too far in the competition, he was off to a shaky start. Coming in with a maybe, the judges and audience might have not been too keen to see what he had in store next.

However, from his performances, David has stuck to the core of the purpose for him entering the show- fighting hard to stay true to his unique style, and how best he wants to share it on the stage.

Embodying every genre thrown at him, delivering it with finesse and putting his distinct spin on it, we can see with each episode how he continues to raise the bar, even for himself, by delivering a hundred and two percent each week.

When we all take a moment to truly reach within ourselves for our identity and use that for our art, only then can we have the ultimate come back.

Remember to tune in to the show to see more of the magic this young star has in store for us.
