CRU to host Pepsi Cup Grand Final at NFS

The Capital Rugby Union continues to strive for excellence with another bonus for the clubs by securing the premier National Football Stadium as the venue for the Pepsi Cup Grand Final day.

CRU president Kori Chan said: “The clubs deserve something better to end the season on a high note and what better way to provide an incentive to those that make the Grand Final to play at the best stadium in the country.

“It would be a discredit to our clubs, players, sponsors and public to host the biggest event of the year, the Grand Final at Bava that doesn’t have proper toilets and change rooms.

“We have planned a fun filled day lined up at the NFS, including entertainment and junior games involving 40 children, who will be promoting our CRU Moni Plus junior rugby ‘Colour Comp’ which will commence in next year in 2024.

“Moni Plus Yellows, Pepsi Blues, TWM Greens and Stop N Shop Reds are the junior teams,” said Chan.

“Additionally one stand will be dedicated to school students who come dressed in their school uniform and with their parent’s admission they will be free.

“The south stand will be dedicated to students and parents only.”

Chan said the CRU patron in former Australian Wallaby half-back Will Genia will also be present amongst other celebrity guests.

He further said they will be selling corporate boxes for business houses who want to come and be entertained to good quality grassroots rugby.

“We will put out flyers later week on the admission fees, corporate boxes and premier boxes fees,” added Chan.

Chan reiterated that it will be an action filled day with the five grades (U20, women, U23, A grade and the premier grade) competing for the premiership.

“I invite the Port Moresby general public as you are all welcome to come and enjoy the wonderful family environment that is Pepsi Capital Rugby Union,” Chan added.

Meanwhile, following the completion of the season on the weekend, the top four teams confirmed for the Premier grade are minor premiers Kramer Ausenco Brothers, Sirmal Coffee Defence, Gangloff Consultancy University Piggies and reigning champions Credit Corporation Harlequins.
