Gr 4 Tabu curriculum unveiled during festival

The renouned East New Britain Tabu Shellmoney Festival ended successfully on Tuesday September 19 at the Malapau Beach Resort, East New Britain Province.

Chairman of the committee, Richard Tapil Jnr acknowledged the people and children of East New Britain Province who participated in the festival. The major highlights were the Tropicana Cultural Heritage Float in the sea, the Digicel Selmoni Trading races and the official unveiling of the Grade 4 Shellmoney curriculum titled, My Shellmoney -Tabu.

The shellmoney Curriculum aim at teaching the younger generation the value and


importance of upholding the shellmoney (tabu) having it embedded in the education system
for generations to come.

The shellmoney curriculum booklet was presented by Paparatava Primary School teachers,


parents and students during the occasion.

Mr Tapil extend his appreciation to the major sponsor of the shows namely the Tourism Promotion Authority, National Cultural Commission, MP Kokopo Ereman ToBaining Jnr, Malapau Beach Resort, Digicel PNG, PNG Cocoa Board, ENBSF and Tropicana Ltd for making the program alive this year.

“The ENBSF would like to thank the schools who participated and the LLGs in Kokopo, Rabaul and Gazelle districts.

The 2023 Festival turnout was extremely better which attracted thousands of people young and old who came to celebrate the 29th Anniversary of the twin volcanic eruptions at Malapau Beach Resort .

We are proud to announce the 2024 Famous ENB Shellmoney Tabu Festival to be hosted again at Malapau Beach Resort.

The Tropicana Shellmoney Cultural Heritage Float will be expanded with the Battle of Digicel Selmoni Crushing Threading races in different categories,” Mr Tapil said.
