French President Emmanuel Macron announced last Friday a K100 million funding from European Union under Expertise France, the French Government’s international technical cooperation agency to support Climate Change and Biodiversity Program in PNG.

In his address to the Managalas Program at APEC Haus Macron said: “France will be on your side to put in place the technical side of things and to coordinate the European Union brings the first investment.”

During the French President Macron visit Ambassador of the EU to PNG Jacques Fradin signed a contract for EUR 33.5 million (PGK 133 million) EU funding with Expertise France, which is also an entity of the AFD Group, for the implementation of the national component of the EU Forest, Climate Change and Biodiversity Program in PNG.

“Prime Minister, you have come to me to the One Forest Summit and we have put in place a new methodology and we are today fully illustrating this through a national approach, and so this engagement is first to support with the chiefs of the plateau, with the governor as well, putting forward a conservation plan of the primary forest.”
