NCD body builders hope for rep honours

Following the National Body Building Championships hosted early last month, the National Capital District Body Building Association is hopeful to see some members of their team make the final Team PNG Bodybuilding to the 2023 Pacific Games in Solomon Islands.

About 32 athletes from NCD, Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Chimbu, Eastern Highlands and Jiwaka turned up to participate at the championship.

However, from Team NCD, a total of 15 body builders (13 male and 2 females) participated.
Out of the 15 that participated; Team NCD won two gold medals, six silver medals and three bronze.

Body Building Federation President Ronald Haihavu said about 90 per cent of the team will come from athlete’s participation in the national championship and 2023 Mr PNG Steve Bomal is likely to lead the team to Pacific Games.

In addition, NCD Body Building Association President Canny Cooper said he is hoping some of his athletes will make the final squad for the different categories they come under.

“At the moment we are waiting for the selection committee from the Body Building Federation to come up with the final list.”

“But I am hopeful some from Team NCD will make the squad,” added Cooper.

Furthermore Team NCD is preparing and waiting the announcement of the final squad that will represent PNG in the 2023 Pacific Games.
