Secretary for the National Department of Health Dr Osborne Liko has appealed to the public to report anyone found to be selling the yellow International Vaccination Cards for COVID-19.
Dr Liko issued the warning after receiving reports that there are people charging for the issuing of yellow cards.
“The yellow cards are processed and issued for free by the National Department of Health, and signed by the Secretary as the licensing authority. Anyone found to be soliciting money out of the yellow cards must be reported to NDoH,’’ he said.
Secretary Dr Liko said the people travelling overseas are required to produce an international Vaccine Certificate upon arrival in most countries.
“In PNG, these are yellow cards which are issued based on a person’s green vaccination card that he or she has been given upon vaccination against COVID-19,’’ he said.
“Anyone found abusing the system by obtaining this green card through unscrupulous means will be penalized as well.’’ He added.
Meanwhile, to get an international vaccine certificate (yellow card), you need a valid passport and your PNG (green) vaccination card.
Email copies to firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the National Department of Health Office at Aopi Centre, Port Moresby, to get a yellow card.
Anyone found charging fees must be reported through writing and the department will deal with the officers appropriately.
