114 new recoveries as Covid cases near 13K — DoH

ONE hundred fourteen patients recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the number of survivors to 2,843 from 2,729, the Department of Health (DoH) said on Tuesday.

The DoH also reported that the total number of cases in the country increased to 12,942 after 224 new cases were added to Monday’s total of 12,718.

The National Capital Region (NCR) tallied most of today’s new cases at 174 patients or 78 percent, Central Visayas at 17 cases or seven percent, while other regions in the country recorded 33 or 15 percent Covid infections.

Six patients succumbed to the respiratory disease on Tuesday, raising the death toll to 837 from Monday’s 831.

John Hopkins University Tracker put the Philippines at third on the number of coronavirus cases in Southeast Asia.

Singapore is number 1 with 28,794 cases, Indonesia at second with 18,010.

The Philippines is second in deaths behind Indonesia, which has 1,191.
