However, recently, reports about former vice presidential candidate Walden Bello having been arrested in his house in Quezon City. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the former vice presidential candidate was arrested by the authorities due to libel and cyber libel charges filed against him by former Davao City information officer Jefry Tupas.

The arrest of Bello was confirmed by his chief-of-staff, Leomar Doctolero. Based on the report, it was in March when Tupas filed charges against the vice-presidential aspirant for accusing him of being a drug dealer and his alleged involvement in a drug trade in a TV interview.
