U.A.E Ambassador to Solomon Islands present credentials to Governor General

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Abdulla Al Subousi presented his letter of credence to the Governor General, His Excellency, Sir David Vunagi today.

His Excellency Governor General, Sir David Vunagi accepted the letter of credential from the non-resident Ambassador and extended his warmest greetings and good health to the President of the U.A.E, His Highness, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Government and peoples of United Arab Emirates.

Sir David said Solomon Islands is very excited of the recent developments, especially the forging of trade partnerships on the margins of the World Expo in Dubai and will continue to pursue through H.E Subousi, boosting of foreign trade and investment.

He stressed that an attestation of Solomon Islands esteemed commitment to this partnership will be the establishment of an Embassy in Abu Dhabi during the course of 2023.

“This will be a great opportunity to make connections, linkages for trade and investment, exploring business and labour mobility opportunities.

“Also, to progress areas of mutual interest, Solomon Islands would like to see a structured bilateral discussion to further advance our engagement.

The Governor General acknowledged the leading role by the United Arab Emirates in fostering high-quality sustainable development in the face of a complex and stern international environment.’

He said the United Arab Emirates has risen up to the challenges, not only for its own economy but also for the world and the Pacific Islands.

“Allow me here Excellency, to acknowledge the provision of technical assistance to Solomon Islands through your Pacific Program and our bilateral engagements, particularly during the recent World Expo in Dubai.”

Jeremiah Manele, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Abdulla Al Subousi, Governor General, His Excellency, Sir David Vunagi and the Permanent Secretary of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Colin Beck.

He said most notable is the United Arab Emirates leading role on championing Renewable Energy including the key role it played in the establishment of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and its leadership in hosting the upcoming COP28.

“This is testimony to your commitment to a cleaner world that will benefit future generations,” he added.

Sir David said he has the utmost confidence in His Excellency Abdulla Al Subousi as a seasoned diplomat to continue strengthening Solomon Islands and United Arab Emirates bilateral relations.

“Solomon Islands looks forward to closely working with your Government on the basis of our mutual respect and peaceful co-existence and cooperation.

“Finally, Excellency, let me close by wishing you prosperity and success in your tenure as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Solomon Islands,” he remarked.

In presenting his letter of credence, Ambassador Subousi conveyed the warmest greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates to the Governor General.

He stressed that as desired by his President his mission would be focused on developing the bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Solomon Islands.

His Excellency Abdulla Al Subousi, was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Australia on May 20, 2019.

Prior to his current assignment, he was the Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Los Angeles covering the West Coast.

HE Al Subousi was also the Director of the American and Pacific Affairs Section, holding a title of Ambassador at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International
