MBABANE – The Government of Eswatini’s Asphalt works programme countrywide is set to provide opportunities for local big constructors.

The government, through the Tender Board, has invited the constructors strictly from Category C1 registered with the Construction Industry Council (CIC) to submit their tender documents for the said programme. Asphalt works involve the act of covering an area with asphalt (a black, sticky substance that forms a hard surface). In a public notice issued by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport yesterday, the works that the successful constructors will be expected to do consist of the repair of potholes, repair of edge breaks, and rehabilitation of pavement layers, asphalt base, surfacing, road signs and road marking on selected road sections countrywide.


Prospective tenderers are to meet at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport’s conference room on the August 2, 2023 at 10am for a compulsory pre-tender briefing. They were informed that tender documents may be collected from the Chief Roads Engineer’s office No.84, from yesterday upon payment of a non-refundable cash amount of E500 payable at the Revenue Office Head 53, Responsibility Centre 2101, Item Code 21132. Signed and sealed completed tenders must be accompanied by the following documents: 1) A valid original Tax Compliance Certificate for Government Tender; 2) Tender Security Form to the value of E10 000 original bank security bond letter; 3) The original general receipt for E500; 4) copy of a valid trading licence; 5) One original tender document, two copies of tender document; 6) Copy of certificate of registration from the Construction Industry Council of Eswatini (C1).
