HOSEA – There was ululating and excitement when former and incarcerated Hosea MP Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza’s brother Sifiso was nominated as MP for the same inkhundla.

Sifiso was nominated at Hosea Primary School, which was the nomination centre for residents under Elushini Umphakatsi. He was nominated by Mpilo Jele, who was the first to make the nomination for the Members of Parliament (MP) position. It is worth noting that Jele, who nominated Sifiso, was also nominated for bucopho. He also received an exciting reaction from the residents.  Just by mentioning the name ‘Sifiso’ the crowd had started ululating and enchanting with excitement in favour of Sifiso. The crowd stood up and went to grab Sifiso from where he was seated leading him to the voter verification point. They could not even wait for him to respond to the question if he was accepting the nomination. It required the electoral officers to ask for Sifiso to come back and respond to the question by the Presiding Officer, Samkeliso Fakudze, if he was accepting the nominations.

Over 10 people stood up to second Sifiso’s nomination. However, since the 10 seconding voters is the required number, the others were asked to pull back. When sought for comment after the nomination, Sifiso denied to comment, mentioning that it was still too early for him to make any comment yet. Others who were nominated at Elushini under Hosea Inkhundla were Chazile Nxumalo, Mzwandile Mkhumane, Xolile Maya, Nomfundo Simelane and Mumcy Sitsebe. Two others who were nominated declined and those were Bhekisisa Tsabedze and Mfanawenkhosi Matse.

Meanwhile, Selby Thwala, a civil servant employed at the Ministry of Home civil registration department in Nhlangano, was nominated for Indvuna Yenkhundla position. He was nominated along with Kholisile Dlamini, Mbongiseni Sacolo, and Siphiwo Shabangu. At least five people declined the nomination for indvuna yenkhundla position at Elushini. Under Bucopho position, Jele was nominated along with the outgoing bucopho of that area Sanele Simelane, Zanale Msibi, Olivia Nhleko, Happy Mhlanga, Mfanfuthi Simelane and Musa Nxumalo.

There was an attempt to nominate former bucopho of that area Mandla Mngometulu but his nomination was not seconded as only three people seconded him. Mabuza will be contesting along with five others from KaLiba, which is another umphakatsi under Hosea Inkhundla. Those who were nominated for MP at KaLiba were Sifiso Shongwe, Bheki Simelane, Dudu Shabangu, Philani Mangwe and Princess Mangwe. Meanwhile, outgoing Indvuna Yenkhundla Richard Vilane was also nominated. He was nominated along with Swaziland News Journalist Sicelo Mhlanga, Sicelo Mdluli, Dumsani Mangwe, Meshack  Gwebu, Bongani Gina, Bheki Dlamini and Sicebile Mdluli.
