MBABANE - Eswatini Country musician sensation Cleopatra Methula was interviewed on Monday by NashvilleVoyager, which is based in USA.

The international magazine has since published the interview on their website with the headline, ‘Conversations with Gcinekile Methula’.  The magazine, which is based in the United States of America (USA), is a digital magazine that features print articles, photography, and video content. NashvilleVoyager is part of the LA-based Voyage Group of Magazines. Their mission is to promote artists, creatives, makers and small businesses by providing a platform for these hidden gems to tell their stories in their own words. In the interview, Cleopatra mentioned how the journey in music has been so far for her, saying: “Being an independent musician isn’t easy at all. You face a lot of rejection because you are not represented by a stable or record label; you are often put last, you know. No matter how good your music is, you barely get first preference.

“As most can attest, we’ve played for empty tables and chairs, and we’ve played for a plate and drink to just promote ourselves and the music we believe in. At times, you want to give up, but you can’t because everything in you yearns for another moment to play music for your fans, family and friends. Let them hear that new song! Speak to their souls! Self-financing the dream – I know we call it an investment; however, it’s not easy when you don’t even have the means.

“I have had the opportunity to work and do music at the same time. My bosses and colleagues fully support my dreams; they believe in music, which makes it a little bit easier, you know, to save money for recording new music, paying the band, and other logistics.” This publication also spoke to the award-winning Country artist, and it is worth mentioning that she is currently in Texas. During the interview with this publication, she was asked the following questions: While you have already made a name for yourself in Texas, we notice that you are making significant inroads into Nashville, a state that’s dubbed ‘the home of Country music’. What was your initial reaction when The NashvilleVoyager called you for an exclusive interview? You are currently in the United States. What activities have you been working on in preparation for both the Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards in Texas and the Josie Music Awards in Nashville?

Her response was: “I was amazed yet excited.  I have been quite busy with a few workshops, including one for Country music songwriters, which has been quite an experience and a wonderful cultural exchange around here.

“I am looking forward to the upcoming awards. On another note, it feels good to know that the Album ‘A Decade and A Rose will be coming out in a few months. I hope all my fans and friends in music are looking forward to it.” Cleopatra is the first female Country musician to win and perform at the Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards.
