MBABANE – Photographer Shaun Desousa bagged yet another gig with decorated spinner and former Black Motion member Murdah at the Cotton Fest over the weekend.

Desousa is a photographer as well as a DJ, trading under the name DJ Tap. The photographer recently secured a photography gig with versatile South African spinner Murdah and DJ Zinhle last month in June, and the recent one was where he took pictures of the musician while delivering a set on the decks. Cotton Fest celebrates SA talent by bringing together a high-octane line-up of local artists, musicians, rappers, and DJs. This year’s event was held at Kings Park Stadium in Outer Fields, Durban, last Sunday. Among the performing musicians were 25K, Big Nuz, Zakwe, Duncan, Big Zulu, Elaine, Kelvin Momo, Moozlie, A-reece, Blxckie, Dlala Thukzin, Emtee, Kabza De Small, Pabi Cooper, Sjava, and Morda, to name a few.

The musician posted pictures on his Instagram account and credited the local photographer. In a brief interview with this publication, Desousa shared that working and attending the Cotton Fest with Murdah was quite exciting. “Well, it was pretty exciting, as I’ve never attended a Cotton Fest event in my life, and I always wanted to go. And now I’m attending as a photographer with backstage access, shooting one of the biggest acts of the night. It’s really a dream come true for a photographer like me who’s passionate about event photography. It’s made me realise that the world is my oyster, and I’ve got nothing to lose but way more to gain,” the photographer said. He went on to share that the opportunity has helped him grow his brand as a photographer.  “It definitely has helped growing my brand as inquiries for my services have gone up and I’m getting more recognition outside the country, so the brand is definitely expanding,” Desousa concluded.
