MBABANE – A well known football official has been implicated in an argument with a National First Division officer that ended up with the brandishing of a gun.

According to the victim, who spoke on condition of anonymity, he now feared for his life and that of his family after he was pointed at with a gun after a match this past weekend. The said victim claimed that while he was at Mayaluka Stadium, during a league game, he and his colleague went to get ice blocks because of the heat in Big Bend.

He mentioned that they walked behind the dressing rooms where they found the accused, who will not be named as he has not been formally charged for the incident. The accused was reportedly accompanied by another man, whose name will not be disclosed as investigations are still ongoing.
He alleged they opted to walk behind the accused to avoid walking in between them and their cars.

As they approached, he claimed they were confronted and an argument ensued. At this time, the victim claimed that the football official brandished his firearm.  “He picked up the gun and pointed it towards me. His companion went into his car and retrieved his own firearm as well and pointed it at me,” he alleged. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the matter was reported and it was still under investigation. No immediate comment could be sourced from PLE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenneth Makhanya, as he was yet to respond to a text sent to his phone by 7pm yesterday.
