Are these the WORST wedding cakes ever? Guests share the most disastrous bakes they've seen

Cakes are a staple part of almost any wedding, regardless of tradition - however these photos prove sometimes the treats can upstage the newlywed couple for the worst reason.

The amusing bakes from around the world have been featured by Diply and Cake Wrecks, a US-based blog dedicated to sharing images of disastrous wedding cakes that couples serve up to their guests on the big day.

Many contributors of the gallery shared side-by-side photos revealing how their cake maker had baked a centerpiece that was almost unrecognizable in comparison with what they ordered.

One customer was horrified by the spelling blunder iced onto the top of their wedding cake, meanwhile another accused their baker of decorating their cake with a blonde gatecrasher.

Expectation VS reality! Diply rounded up a selection of the worst wedding cakes shared on Instagram, including this side-by-side revealing what one couple hoped for and the disaster they received

Not a happy ending! A couple who was hoping to celebrate their big day with a fairy-tale castle wedding cake was forced to serve up a bake with toppling towers

Presentation needs work! One guest was horrified by the appearance of the cake a bride and groom served up that was garnished with succulent plants in a tinfoil wrapping

Another individual took to Instagram to reveal how their baker had iced a disastrous spelling blunder on top of their wedding cake

Quoc Nguyen joked that the toppers looked like Brigitte Nielsen had married Michael McIntyre and had a 'baby turkey'

Til death do us part! Another wedding guest posted a cake on social media after being unimpressed by the addition of miniature characters appearing to have a stand off

A couple hoping for a monochrome cake with green ribbons and cute penguin toppers ended up sorely disappointed

Would you have a slice? The green icing on this cake gave it the unfortunate appearance of being mouldy

One cake was decorated to look like the nights sky, but the cake itself looked a little unstable and wobbly

Another rustic looking cake featured figurines of the bride and groom sitting a top a tiered bake decorated with brown stripes

Another couple opted for brightly coloured miniature cupcakes instead of a traditional cake for their wedding reception

Watch out! The piping on this cake made it look like the bride and groom were about to be attacked by snakes

This basic bake, decorated with pink and green icing, appeared to be a little underwhelming for guests at one wedding

The piping on one cake appears to have gotten a little out of hand, with the baker having  seemingly no pattern in mind

Some of the cakes featured more simplistic decorations, including piped pink roses (left) and geometric styles (right)
