FTSE LIVE: UK stocks on hold in rare delay to open but set to claw back losses

Failure to launch! FTSE 100 yet to open

After a volatile few days, all eyes were on the FTSE 100 at the open to see if it could claw back some of yesterday's losses.

However, due to some sort of issue at the London Stock Exchange, the market is still yet to open.

More information on the delayed FTSE open

The London Stock Exchange has delayed its opening on Friday morning due to a 'potential Trading Services issue', the exchange said.

Due to open at 8am, trading in FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies could not start, with the LSE saying it will provide further updates.

The last time there was a significant delay to the opening of the exchange was in June last year, with the market opening at 9am instead of 8am due to a software 'technical issue', although the LSE gave no further details at the time.
