(CNN)According to emergency management officials, a Vietnam War-era helicopter that crashed on Wednesday and killed six people reunited. It was used for festivals.
"The crashed Huey was the one used at the reunion," said Ray Bryant Bryant, Chief Operating Officer of the Logan County Emergency Ambulance Department.
An accident and incident notice posted online by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) states:
Company officials said they had no comments when contacted by the CNN.
MARPAT's website advertises Huey's reunion at the airport from June 21st to 26th. ..
"We want all helicopter (especially Huey) enthusiasts to have the opportunity to fly / ride this historic helicopter," the website said. According to the website, flying Huey requires a $ 250 donation for 30 minutes to pay for fuel. The
website states that the helicopter is "probably the oldest flying Huey in the world, as it was # 488 of the 10,005 produced." According to the website, Chopper has appeared in the movies "Die Hard," "The Rock," "Outbreak," and "Baywatch."
According to the FAA's Wednesday statement, the helicopter crashed around 5 pm.
The aircraft went down a rural road, said Sonya Porter, Deputy Director of the Logan County Emergency Management Agency, Wednesday.
"I ran as fast as I could, passed under the guardrail and went up to the helicopter," she told WSAZ. "But the fire was so hot and so fierce that the man didn't put out the fire from there."
One of the owners appeared on the scene after the crash, Bryant told WSAZ. However, he did not appoint an owner.
Logan County is near the border with Kentucky.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash, officials said.
