Alyssa Farah Griffin Missing from ‘The View’ Again Due to COVID-19

Alyssa Farah Griffin is out again at The View. The co-host was missing from this morning’s broadcast, and Whoopi Goldberg revealed it was due to a rebound COVID-19 case. Griffin, who missed The View just last week, tested positive for the virus once again.

“Unfortunately Alyssa is not with us again because she’s got Covid,” Goldberg told the audience. “Listen, we keep telling people it’s not gone. It is still out there. So do pay attention, ’cause it pops up and wants to give you a kiss and stuff.”

Sunny Hostin explained why Griffin could have tested positive in two separate instances two weeks in a row, adding, “It’s sad, ’cause she was fine. She took Paxlovid, and so she has one of those rebound cases that we hear so much about now.”

Goldberg quipped, “I don’t know about all that, I just know she ain’t here.”

Per Scientific American, cases like Griffin’s happen when a person tests positive for COVID-19 despite undergoing a full course of treatment.

“The CDC defines Paxlovid rebound as when a patient who, after receiving a full five-day course of treatment, either has a reemergence of COVID symptoms or tests positive after a previous, negative test,” the outlet reports.

Griffin was on The View as recently as yesterday’s show, when she sat beside her co-hosts for a fiery debate about gun control in the U.S.

She had returned to The View after missing a couple of shows last week, starting with a March 22 absence. Goldberg also revealed Griffin’s illness then, telling the audience, “Alyssa is not here because unfortunately, she has COVID.”

Sara Haines joked, “So meet our new conservative, Sunny Hostin,” who was seated in Griffin’s regular spot in her absence.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
