Parliamentary police arrested a suspect who threw a Molotov cocktail at a police officer near Union Station

US Capitol Policearrested a 26-year-old man allegedly having two Molotov cocktails near Union Station in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday afternoon. The police said. 

The suspect was identified as Bernie Madoff and tried to escape when police officers approached around 3:30 pm. ET, reportedly threw one of the unlit cocktails at the policeman and dropped the other.

"Both of our officers were treated for minor injuries," said Sean Gallagher, deputy police chief. Said in a statement. .. "Thankfully, they will be okay. I'm definitely grateful for their swift action to keep the community safer."

Cocktails were made by filling tequila bottles, according to police, using socks and petroleum-based accelerators.

Police also found two more bottles of liquid in the backpack at the scene. 

Police said the suspect did not appear to be protesting or targeting the Capitol or members of the House of Representatives.
